Stamped with love

I'm a stepsister at the Sisterhood of crafters. I must say I'm very excited about that. :) We are sponsored by Shelly's images this time around. I wanted to make a love-themed card for a friend of mine since she is getting married to her fiance. I found Love by Shelly's images to be perfect for the card I had in mind. You know what else was perfect for this card? Stickles! Yes, lots and lots of Stickles...

...because I wanted to make a very colourful love card!

I have used the following Ranger Stickles: Cinnamon, Diamond, Eucalyptus, Fruit Punch, Green, Lagoon, Magenta, Mystic Green, Orange Peel, Starry Night, Thistle, Tropical Tangerine, Turquoise, Waterfall, Yellow

I found the borders and colourful people at Papercraft Inspirations (issue 59: paper 3, issue 77: paper 6). I have used the CookieMonster font for the black and red text.

I have used TeddyBear with RoseHat by Bugaboo for my card.  Look, how cute is that teddy?! I think the look on its face is adorable. I've coloured the teddy with Promarkers. I have also added some sand paint to the hat and some Eucalyptus Stickles to the leaves. 

  

The card base (tea-cup) came with issue 57 of Let's make Cards. The stickers (cups/mugs) were probably purchased at Panduro at some point.

Colorful of ideas

I found the balloons, pen, sun and dotty border in various magazines. 

The floral background is actually an old card, which I have "upcycled". The floral painting was made by a mouth painter named Francis Camille. You can find cards by the Mouth and Foot Painting Artist Association here.

Top Tip Tuesday: Tip: if you zoom in on my card, you will notice that I have cut out the small black lines to the balloons and that I have cut out the tiny grass. My "secret" is to use a pair of nail scissors. The bend which nail scissors often have helps you cut closer without cutting too much. Nail scissors are very helpful for paper-crafting and paper-piecing.

*It's possible rainbowy isn't actually a word, but I think it should be. On the other hand I wouldn't want "Regnbågig" to be a word in my own language, so maybe I should stop messing with yours. Lol.

Singin' in the rain

Another card with an image by Lynne Stansbery. I love this image  and I found myself smiling while coloring her and adding raindrops to her body. The raindrops are made of Stickles: Waterfall (how suitable, right?).

There's obviously other colours of Stickles in this card, like Fruit Punch, Yellow and Diamond. I have coloured the smiling woman with Promarkers. Oh and I think I added Fruit Punch to her lips. The font is AlphaMusicMan by Beeline. I've coloured it with Promarkers: Buttercup.

A fine lime

I got some powdered chalk from Chalk-AH-Lot Cafe last week. When I was playing around with the chalk and trying to see how it would look like on paper, I created this awesome structure with Chalk-AH-Lot: Lime. First I crumpled some white tissue paper. Next I unfolded it, but was careful not to smooth out the creases. I glued the tissue paper on a sheet of paper. Then I showered the paper with lots of lime green chalk. If I took a tiny amount of the chalk, it looked almost yellow-ish. If I took a bigger amount of it, it looked more like grassy green. Finally I used my paint brush and fixated the chalk with water.

I have created a card with this structure as my basis.

Make it rainbow

A card I made for Baby Edith when she was new-born. I wanted to make a colorful and gender-neutral card. I'm against putting labels on people. Why are all the cards for babies either pink (for girls) or blue (for boys)? Because too many people have been socially constructed to believe that girls like pink by some unexplainable reason.

I was a mentor for a boy earlier this year. His favorite color was pink. And he was ashamed to admit it. Society shames our children. Society shames our children to not be who they are. That must stop. Now. 

I realize I'm culturally influenced.  Nowadays we have a gender-neutral pronoun, which is hen (lol hen). So, this card isn't just celebrating Edith but all the "hens" out there.

Finally, I would like to share a funny anecdote. My little sister works at a day-care center, and has met some really peculiar children. One day a 3-year-old girl loudly declared that she will soon become a big brother. She also said that she can be a boy if she wants to. That was a child who was gender-blind as some people would call it. AND I wonder if most children aren't gender-blind before we (as in society) tell them how they are supposed to be like.
